transfer news and rumours

Vieri could leave Milan and join Monaco

With Sheva, Gilardino and Pipo Inzaghi he lost his position in team.

Adriano Galliani confirmed Milan deal with Monaco, now it's up for Vieri to accept the offer..

Josip Simunic of Hertha Berlin and the Croatian NT might be joining during this transfer window or the next one in as his contract is due to expire.
His a tall and built defender and stops alot of set pieces and corners which is something Milan need currently in their team as Nesta and Jaap Stam have been average.

Milan sign Brazil veteran
Reuters

AC Milan has signed striker Marcio Amoroso from Brazilian side Sao Paolo as a replacement for Christian Vieri who signed for French side Monaco this week.

The Serie A club said Amoroso, 31, had signed an 18-month contract that will keep him at Milan until the end of June 2007.

According to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport he will earn 1.4 million euro ($A2.25 million) a year.

Amoroso has already spent five years in Italy, playing for Udinese between 1996 and 1999 and then Parma between 1999 and 2001.

In the 1998-99 season he finished top scorer in Serie A with 22 goals in 33 games, one goal more than Fiorentina's Gabriel Batistuta.

After Parma, he played for three seasons with German side Borussia Dortmund, where he won the Bundesliga in 2002.

A season at Spanish side Malaga followed before Amoroso returned to Brazil and Sao Paolo last year.

Amoroso has also scored 10 goals in 21 appearances for the Brazilian national side, with whom he won the 1999 Copa America.

At Milan he is expected to be used as a substitute for the team's first-choice strikers, Andriy Shevchenko and Alberto Gilardino.

AC Milan currently lie second in Serie A on 40 points, nine behind leaders Juventus.
