ZAGREB, Croatia - A Croatian fan sitting courtside waved a sign as James Blake was about to serve: ``You can't beat without Pete.''
At one point, Blake shouted at the fan holding the Sampras banner, ``Put the sign down!''
A fan replied, ``Go home, James.''
Real Madrid's new signing Antonio Cassano of Italy has torn a muscle which will delay his return to fitness, coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro said. The 23-year-old striker, who arrived from Roma for five million euros with an annual salary of four million euros, was not in top form anyway having not played much for his old club this season. Cassano, who will wear the number 19 shirt, signed on with Real until 2010. "He will have to put in some work to get back into peak condition," Caro told Real Madrid's internet site. His match fitness will be slower to achieve than Brazilian right back Cicinho, another recent recruit, Caro added. Cicinho arrived at the end of December and is set to start his first match against Villarreal on Sunday. Cassano, who admitted when he arrived he was not in top shape, will undergo intense physical work in a bid to lose four kilos in two weeks. — AFP
